Contract prices of DDR4 8Gb for PCs has stabilized in June after five months of continuous rise, according to data from DRAMeXchange on Tuesday.

The DRAM was contact priced at $3.31 as of end of June, same as its price at the end of May.

DRAM aimed at PCs and notebooks saw a short-term increase earlier this year [due to the COVID-19 pandemic] but this has since stabilized due to expectations that prices will fall, which led to less purchases, the firm said.

Buyers also had enough in stock, which means DRAM prices won't increase anymore. In the third quarter, PC DRAM prices will fall 5% and server DRAM prices fall over 5%, DRAMeXchange said.

Spot prices for PC DRAM, meanwhile, has been falling for over a quarter. It has fallen 17% since the decline began.

The rate of decline, however, won’t be as bad as last year’s as supply remain limited from contracted investment volume of producers, people familiar with the matter said. However, whether demand in data centers will remain robust was up in the air, they also said.

Meanwhile, 128Gb multi-level cell NAND Flash price has stayed at $4.68 as of the end of June. It has remained the same for three straight months.
