Seoul Viosys said on Wednesday that it expects sales between 120 billion won to 130 billion won in the first quarter of 2021.
This will be a rise of 38% to 50% from the same time period a year ago.
The company said it expects sales from MiniLED and MicroLED in the first quarter.
Seoul Viosys will also supplying near-distance 25Gbps laser diode, called VCSEL, to three customers. VCSEL is a laser diode that changes electric signals to optical signals. They can be used in augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D sensing, time of flight and LiDAR applications.
The company posted 431.3 billion won in sales and 27.2 billion won in operating income for the entire year of 2020. This was a rise of 23% and 166%, respectively, from a previous year.
Operating margin rate for 2020 was 6.3%. This is substantially higher than 2.9% of 2019. Seoul Viosys had said in February 2020 that it plans to reduce its research and development expenditure from 12% to 13% of that year down to 6% to 7% in the next two years.
Seoul Viosys also saw sales of its ultraviolet LED product, Violeds, grow by three digits last year from high demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Its visible LED business saw sales grow 14% year-on-year thanks to high sales of high value products such as WICOP.
