3D cover glass company JNTC said on Monday that it has completed its third factory in Vietnam.
The factory takes up 87,000 meter-square of space, equivalent to 12 football fields, and larger than its first and second factories combined, the company said.
JNTC initially planned to complete the third factory by April and begin production of cover glass for wearable devices sometime between May and June.
But the plan was delayed, like due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam.
Besides glass for wearable devices, the third factory will also make glass for ultra small cameras and ultra-thin glass for foldable devices.
Mass production and supply will begin in the second half of the year. Production of ultra-thin glass will begin within the year.
The third factory can all cost the glasses within the line. It can build glass in various sizes and processed in different ways, JNTC said.
The factory’s first customer is likely Samsung Electronics.
Meanwhile, the first and second factories mainly manufacture cover glass for handsets. They have production capacities of 3 million units per month and 2 million units per month, respectively. JNTC’s factory in Hwaseong, South Korea has a capacity of a million units per month. The third factory’s is likely larger than this.
