The National Information Society Agency (NIA) has named a consortium formed by SK Telecom to run its optical telecommunication component testing support project, the agency said on Wednesday.

The consortium of SK Telecom, SK Broadband and Zaram Technology, will provide an open lab for local small- to mid-sized enterprises to test their optical materials, modules and components on them.

This will allow the enterprises to test the reliability and function of their components before selling them to network and data center customers.

NIA said the project will present them with opportunities to increase their competence and build reference.
