LG Chem, Korea University to from joint research center

It will develop next-gen battery techs

LG Chem and Korea University will form a joint research center for next-generation batter materials at the university, the companies aid on Tuesday.

The center will focus on developing new materials for cathode and anode as well as technology that can extend battery life, they said.

The center will also be used for big data and artificial intelligence education classes.

LG Chem will pick 32 employees from its research and production departments to foster them as experts in digital transformation.

They will become consultants its battery business to promote digitization.

The center will also be used to support application of smart factory solutions to LG Chem’s global factories, the companies said.
