Qualcomm has launched Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100+ System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for use in smartwatches, the company announced.

The SoCs were made using the 12-nanometer process and uses ARM Cortex A53 (1.7GHz). They use the Adreno A504 as the graphics processing unit. It supports LPDDR3 memory.

The US chip giant said the CPU and GPU performances has risen 85% and 250%, respectively, from their predecessors Snapdragon Wear 3100.

Wear 4100 and 4100+ also have co-processors for Always-on-Display. Ambient mode has been strengthened to optimize brightness and chip supports 64 bit color to and extends offload experiences to include continuous heart rate monitoring, faster tilt-to-wake responsiveness, steps, alarms, timers, and haptics.

Customer Imoo will launch a new children’s watch dubbed Z6 Ultra Smartwatch using the SoC. Another customer, Mobvoi. Will use 4100 for its TicWatch Pro 3 launching later this year.
