AMD launches new high-performance workstation CPU

Ryzen Threadripper PRO had 37% higher GPU performances compared to Intel, company claims

AMD has announced the new new AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO Processor line-up aimed at workstations, on Tuesday.

The highest tier AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX among the four (3995, 3975, 3955 and 3945) has 64 cores.

AMD said its GPU performance was 37% higher than Intel’s Xeon Platinum 8280.

The company claimed its new processor performed 70% better than two 28 core Intel processors.

The new processors also offer 8K resolution rendering and supports Gen 4 PCI Express (PCIe). 

The PCIe had 128 lanes with up to 2.5 times the bandwidth compared to rival dual processor systems.

They had memory bandwidth11 with 8 channel ECC RDIMM, LRDIMM and UDIMM DDR4-3200 memory support, AMD also said. They will support 2 terabytes of memory.
