LG Electronics to recall 60,000 OLED TVs for power board switch 

LG Electronics will voluntarily commence free repairs for OLED TVs it sold from February, 2016 to September, 2019, the company said. It is due to potential heating problems from power board components in the TVs.

A component that minimizes current interference is applied to TV power boards. Some of the power boards for TV models made between the time period have shown to have unwanted current increase due to the component’s performance degrading, LG said.

The South Korean hardware maker said 18 models of OLED TVs totaling around 60,000 units are affected, and it will offer to switch the power boards. It has already completed services for 22,000 TVs out of the total, the company said.

LG said only a very few number of models showed signs of heating but it was offering the free switch for customer safety and alleviate inconveniences. 

It will wrap up the procedure as quickly as possible, the company said. Customers can call LG service centers for a service appointment.
