Synopex said Wednesday it is expanding its eco-friendly water treatment technology licensing business with Doosan Heavy.

The pair signed a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology licensing agreement last year. The two companies will expand the application of the technology to more business areas.

Synopex said it focused mostly on the water treatment of small- to mid-sized industrial zones but this will be expanded to power plants, petrochemical plants, waste water treatment, reuse and refine treatment areas.

It will be able to utilize Doosan’s experience in sales and winning orders to expand the business, the company said.

Synopex said its ZLD technology has been upgrade to treat more water in the same time.

The company has been operating its water treatment business for over ten years though subsidiary WeEn Tech. It installed pilot equipment made with Doosan’s ZLD technology at WeEn Tech’s facilities to receive the conglomerate’s know-hows. Synopex will apply its UF membrane filters and evaporation concentration equipment to further upgrade its water treatment competence, it said.

Doosan started development of ZLD technology in 2012 and completed in four years. It evaporates the water in the waster water and concentrates the waste for removable. ZLD equipment has been supplied to thermal power plants in Yeongdong and Yeongheung.
