LG Display will hold its first Open Innovation Forum to showoff potential application for its organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels at the home.

The company will invite those from the construction, furniture and interior industry to seek potential collaboration areas, LG said on Monday. The theme of the forum is home life, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furniture-style home appliance, built-in home appliance and smart media appliances are some of the areas OLED can be applied and the display maker will form working groups with other companies to come up with concepts for the best design and services, LG Display said.

LG Display will also hold an idea competition to apply display technology in games, healthcare, cooking, fashion and other new areas.

The company has opened a showroom at LG Science Park to display its variable TV, mirror display, transparent display and wallpaper display that uses OLED technology to go hand in hand with the forum. The showroom will last until August 7.

LG Display will also hold an online hackathon from August 4 to 6. The top ten companies will get prize money and support from LG in development, funding, verification and business model.

Meanwhile, the company last month announced its new management goal called the best display solution company and bowed to expand outside to merely manufacturing panels.
