Power transistor market will hit bottom this year and begin recovering in 2021, according to market research firm IC Insights.

The market will grow 7% next year to be worth US$16.9 billion.

This year’s power transistor market contracted 7% from a year prior due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, the market will grow to be worth US$17.7 billion, higher than 2019’s US$17.1 billion, the research firm said.

This growth will be led by RF/Microwave transistors, which will grow 9% next year to be worth US$1.3 billion.

They are used for 5G networks.

Lower power (40V) field effect transistors will grow 8% next year. Insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) will increase 7% next year.

Battery FET will lead the growth in FET the next four years, IC Insights also noted. Electric vehicles will be a major factor in IGBT growth.
