LG Uplus sees demand for AR app rise

LG Uplus said the number of people subscribing to its Augmented Reality (AR) app U+AR has doubled in six months.

The carrier said the accumulated number of those who subscribed increased by 103% as of June compared to December of last year.

The company currently offers 2,200 AR contents on the app. It offered 1,700 back in December. Children program were the most popular on the app, LG Uplus said.

LG Uplus said it expected consumption of AR contents to increase with the expansion of 5G.
