Cammsys supplies camera modules for Note 20, Z Fold 2

Cammsys said on Thursday that it is supplying the camera modules for Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note20 series smartphones and Galaxy Z Fold 2 at Vietnam.

The company was producing the 10MP camera module for the front cameras on the Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra as well as the 12MP Ultra Wide camera module for the back cameras on the Note20 and Z Fold 2.

Cammsys’s Vietnam operation has previously supplied camera modules for the Galaxy A71 5G, Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy M51. The camera module recently clinched a supply deal with local smartphone maker VinSmart for two smartphone models.

Cammsys Global CEO Kim Sang-hak said production of major smartphone models were focused on the second half of 2020, allowing its Vietnam operation to produce normally.

Automation of processes and increase in efficiency has also increased yield rate of camera modules and the company is hoping to improve profitability, Kim said. The company will not reach its initial sales goal for 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and it will continue to grow in the next five years, the CEO added.
