South Korean semiconductor IP firm Chips&Media has signed a technology licensing agreement with an unnamed US semiconductor giant, the company said on Monday.

Chips&Media will provide its IP in semiconductors for automobiles and industrial robots to the unnamed client, which was among the top ten semiconductor companies in the US, the South Korean company said.

A company spokesperson said it went through a pre-sale process with the client to see if its technology could be properly used. It was not a one-time licensing agreement and it will become a long-term video IP partner for its client, the spokesperson said.

Chips&Media was the only company in South Korea that provided video IP to fabless clients, it said.
