SEMES, the largest semiconductor and display manufacturing equipment maker in Korea, will set up exhibition halls at Semicon Korea 2019 and showcase its main line of pre- and post-processing equipment.

The new CEO, Kang Chang-jin, who will assume the role of CEO of SEMES from this year, will participate in the Semicon Korea 2019 exhibition and have meetings for mutual cooperation with key customers and business partners. Prior to joining SEMES as CEO earlier this year, Kang had been the vice president of planning for the Device Solution (DS) division of Samsung Electronics.

SEMES has set its mid- to long-term business vision to become a global top five equipment manufacturer by expanding sales of pre-processing FAB equipment and logistics automation facilities. SEMES has exceeded 1 trillion won in revenue for the first time as a domestic pre-process equipment maker in 2015. In 2017, the company achieved sales of 2 trillion won for the first time in the industry. According to the market research firm Gartner's Q1'08 survey, SEMES ranks seventh in the world's pre-processing equipment market.

The main semiconductor product lines of SEMES include cleaning, photo track, and etching equipment. Bonders and handlers are the main equipment in the post-processing field. In the field of logistics automation, OverHead Transport (OHT) is the main focus. OHT is a system that automatically transports FOUPs containing semiconductor wafers and all of them were imported from Japanese companies. The industry is assuming that, as SEMES has localized OHT, the effect of import substitution of hundreds of billions of won per year has been observed.

A SEMES official said, "With a collection of innovative semiconductor equipment, we will contribute to customer's process miniaturization and yield increase."
