Versum Materials will complete a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) slurry research and development (R & D) center in the second half of the year at the Pyeongtaek business premise. Last year, it was the second time after the R & D Center for Advanced Deposition Materials at Banwol Factory in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. The total investment is over 30 billion won.

Banwol R & D Center is researching new deposition materials. When the CMP R & D center is completed, the Korea branch will develop core semiconductor materials to be supplied to all regions of Asia. As localization has been steadily emphasized in order to reach the Korean market, the recruitment of related personnel is expected to continue.

The headquarters of Versum Materials achieved double-digit growth in 2017 and 2018. The sales increased 22 percent to $ 1.372 trillion (about 1.38 trillion won). Korea accounted for 28% of the total sales, surpassing the US (23%), Taiwan (18%), and China (12%). It is the reason why the company is successively able to build R & D centers in Korea.

Versum Materials presents three product lines (ION-X, GasKeeper, ChemKeeper II) that can supply various gases and precursors to equipment at the desired ratio in a safe and accurate manner at Semicon Korea 2019 exhibition.

Each product is designed to deliver purity (UHP) materials while reducing the loss of equipment operation. Cylinders have an increased charge amount and can selectively adsorb, store, and transport toxic gases. It is the explanation that the technology is superior in performance and more economical than carbon-based adsorption technology. The chemical automatic feeder meets the specifications required for various materials used in semiconductor processing.

Meanwhile, Versum Materials was separated from Air Products, a special gas company, in October 2016. The main sources of sales are materials and materials supply equipment.
