Huawei installs 5G downlink CA pilot in China

Huawei has installed a pilot base stations that has 5G super uplink and downlink carrier aggregation technology applied in China, the company said on Monday.

5G super uplink uses time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD) methods together.

Carrier aggregation, as it name suggests, where two or more carriers are combined into a single data channel.

China Telecom used Huawei’s goods and installed the pilot station at Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

China Unicom, which is partnered with China Telecom in building 5G networks, will also benefit from the station, Huawei said.

The pilot station used 3.5GHz band 200MHz width TDD spectrum and 2.1GHz band 20MHz width FDD spectrum.

Average uplink speed was 470Mbps and downlink speed 2.43Gbps, Huawei claimed.

It was 1.3 times faster in terms of uplink speed and 2 times faster in terms of downlink speed compared to using 100MHz bandwith alone, the Chinese tech giant said.
