Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 2 foldable smartphone in full on Tuesday.

Victor Delgado, Samsung Mobile’s head of enterprise sales and marketing, stressed the app continuity, flex mode and mult-active window features on the new smartphone.

Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung’s third foldable phone, comes with a 6.4-inch cover display, around 40% longer than its predecessor Galaxy Fold’s 4.6-inch.

Delgado said the transition from the cover display to the main screen will be seamless.

The Fold 2’s main display is 7.6-inch in size that can be folded and unfolded.

It also has the hideaway hinge that was first applied on the Galaxy Z Flip launched earlier this year.

The hinge allows the device to be used even when at an angle. Samsung said only its foldable phone offered such use with its flex mode UI.

When using flex mode while Fold 2 is folded at an angle, the top screen can be used to take photos or videos while the bottom screen can act like a controller. Five recent photos or videos can be analyzed on the bottom of the screen simultaneously.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra, which was launched last month, has a screen size of 6.9-inch. The Fold’s 7.6-inches make it closer to a tablet PC. Apple’s iPad Mini has a screen size of 7.9-inches.

Samsung said multi-active window, which allows 3 apps to be loaded at once, has further evolved on the Fold 2. One app can be loaded on two screens and drag and drop allows texts and images to be transferred between apps, the South Korean tech giant said.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is priced at 2.398 million won and will launch with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G on September 18 in South Korea. Flip 5G will be priced at 1.65 million won.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 will also be offered in a Thome Browne Edition that the company will offer 5,000 units for. The price in Korea for the special edition is 3.96 million won. It will go on sale on September 25.

Samsung is producing the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in South Korea, Vietnam and Brazil. Majority of them will be made in Korea while Vietnam will handle 20% of the production. The company is expected to produce 700,000 to 800,000 units this year. Brazil will only handle a thousands of units. Thome Browne version will be made completely in Vietnam.
