LED maker Seoul Semiconductor has won a technology theft lawsuit against its Taiwanese counterpart Everbright in South Korea.

The Suwon District Court fined Everbright 500 million won and gave suspended sentences to three of its employees.

Seoul Semiconductor had claimed that Everbright acquired its South Korean company’s automobile LED technology such as WICOP headlamps from its former employees in 2018.

Seoul Semiconductor said it has invested 560 billion won for seven years to develop WICOP technology.

The South Korean LED company was currently embroiled in some 30 lawsuits globally. The company said it had over 14,000 patents related to LED technology.
