Hanmi wins appeals case against Genesem

Hanmi Semiconductor has won its patent lawsuit against rival Genesem at the appeals court, the company said on Wednesday.

The patent court said Genesem used Hanmi’s patents related to vision placement equipment without approval.

The court has ordered Genesem to halt production and sales of products that use the patent.

Hanmi first filed the lawsuit against its rival in April 2019. It won in the district court on October 209, but Genesem appealed the decision.

Hanmi has also filed a damages lawsuit that is till on going.

The company’s vision placement equipment cleans, drys, inspects and selects semiconductor packages and load them afterwards. Hanmi began selling the equipment in 1998 and has sold 2020 units of them as of August 2020. The equipment have accrued 1.9 trillion won in sales for the firm since launch.
