Telecom equipment vendor Ace Technologies have won a new order for its remote radio heads (RRH) from a global client, the company said on Tuesday.

It is its first order for RRH since 2013.

The client already buys antenna filters from Ace.

The South Korean company also plans to supply RRH to local clients soon, it said.

RRH is made of RF and base band. It changes data to electric signal and transmit them outside.

Ace will be producing around 100,000 units of 4G and 5G RRH for the next two to three years.

The business is expected to contribute mid-100 billion won in sales during that time.

Ace Technologies CEO Hong Ick-pyoh said the company now has the capacity to provide a complete set for 5G Massive MIMO.

RRH will contribute to sales beginning next year after supply for them begin by the end of 2020.

Prior to the new order, Ace’s RRH business contribute less than 10 billion won in sales annually.

In 2013 the business contributed 71.4 billion won in sales. The company won an order for them from Alcatel-Lucent. It had supplied 130,000 units to the company.

Sales have declined since then.

Rival KMW has grown its business in the meantime with its RRH sales.

Ace Technologies posted 27.8 billion won in operating loss and 102.5 billion won in sales in the first half of 2020.
