Ericsson launches cost-saving firewall for 5G core

Ericsson has launched the Cloud Native Ericsson Packet Core Firewall for 5G core network security.

The solution will be in modular form with A10 Networks’ technology and can be attached on the gateway of core networks.

Previous firewalls required a hardware component along with the software.

But Ericsson’s solution will only require the software on the gateway that will save cost, the telecom equipment giant said.

The company’s Packet Core Gateway and Packet Core Firewall integrated the user plane and security feature on a single cloud-native network function that will save cost and lessens closed-loop threats, Ericsson said.
