Global Zeus forms new production firm

Global Zeus has formed a new production firm in South Korea and will wrap up construction of a semiconductor wafer testing factory by the end of the year, the company said.

The newly formed company, based at Hwaseong, will make batch-type semiconductor production equipment.

Zeus will bring in technology used at its Japanese subsidiary J.E.T. 

South Korean companies has relied on import of batch-type equipment until now.

Zeus said formation of the new company will create a favorable environment to localizes the equipment’s production. It was drawing up the development plan and workers needed for the process.

The company also said the semiconductor industry will see a huge surge in demand from artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), which will also raise demand for its single-type and batch-type equipment from customers.

Zeus was developing a 12-chamber high-temperature sulfuric acid equipment, it also said.

The company posted 14.6 billion won in operating profits and 120.5 billion won in sales in the first half of 2020, a rise of 131.1% and 23.1%, respectively, from a year prior.
