The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has formed a display industry cooperation council to bolster collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The ministry divided the previous council that oversaw both display and semiconductors to two, each overseeing one of the industries.

The new display council is made out of around 30 companies and institutions.

Samsung Display, LG Display, SFA and DS Neolux are members. Korea Display Industry Association will support the operation of the council.

The ministry said the council will help the South Korean display industry to continue its lead as the world’s top amid obstacles like Japan’s trade ban and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The council will also support the development of exposure and ion implantation equipment. Samsung and LG will take part of this.

It will also find ways to use retirees of the industry as well as support material, component and equipment businesses run by the member companies.
