Samsung to begin Galaxy S21 production a month earlier 

Samsung Electronics will begin production of the upcoming Galaxy S21 smartphone series in mid-December, TheElec has learned.

This is a month faster than its predecessor Galaxy S20, which went into production in January with official sales starting in March.

Galaxy S21 smartphones will likely start official sales a month sooner than its predecessors.

The decision is a continuation of changes in Samsung Mobile following the nomination of Roh Tae-moon, also called TM Roh, earlier this year. Under his leadership, the company held three separate Unpacked events in August, September and October. Galaxy S20 FE got an Unpacked event of its own, rare for a mid-tier smartphone.

Galaxy S21 will have three models __ each being called in production, O1, P3 and T2. 

They will come in gray, pink, violet, white and silver colors.

Samsung is also planning to showoff Galaxy Buds 2 with the S21. The new wireless earbuds will have upgraded water resistance. The first Galaxy Buds were launched with the Galaxy S10 back in 2019. A Galaxy Buds Plus was launched with the S20 earlier this year. A new Galaxy Buds Live was launched with the Galaxy Note 20 recently.

Galaxy Buds 2’s code name is Attic. It will come in black, silver and violet. Samsung used the name Plus or Live because they couldn’t improve the water resistance of these, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said.

The earlier launch of the S21 was also in part to take advantage of Huawei’s absence, people familiar with the matter said. Huawei won’t be able to secure Kirin 9000 application processors made by TSMC for phones starting in the fourth quarter of 2020.
