TSE has begun supplying its ultra-fast test socket called Eltune to a global system-on-a-chip (SoC) maker, the company said.

Eltune sockets offers shorter signal lengths compared to pogo pin sockets, the company said. The contact terminal was also wider and showed high results during yield rate testing, TSE said.

A light, inelastic and heat isolating material was used to make Eltune, which has superior electric characteristic and mechanical stability compared to their elastic rubber socket counterparts, the company said.

TSE spent two years to develop the technology for Eltune and has improved their integrity as well.

Testing requirements for ultra-fast semiconductors for use in 5G, artificial intelligence, mobile processor, CPU and GPU was expanding, a TSE spokesperson said.

Eltune is optimized for testing these semiconductors and is expected to contribute over 20 billion won in sales a year to the company going forward, they said.

TSE said it expects its SoC testing load boards business to benefit from the Eltune supply as well.

Test sockets are used to connect a semiconductor that has finished packaging to a test board.
