Samsung leader inspects Vietnam smartphone operation
As well as Hanoi R&D center
Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong has visited the conglomerate’s Vietnam operation in a four day business trip from October 19 to 22, the company said.
Lee inspected facilities of Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display. He also visited the construction site of the company’s new research and development center at Hanoi, Samsung said.
He inspected production sites for smartphones, display panels and TVs.
The vice chairman also met with Vietnam prime minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for talks, Samsung said.
The South Korean tech giant begun construction of the 19-story Hanoi R&D center in March. It will be finished by 2022. The center will house around 3,000 researchers working in software and hardware for smartphones and tablets when completed, the company said.
Samsung will also collaborate with universities in Vietnam and offer consulting services for local companies, it said.
Lee was accompanied by Samsung Mobile boss TM Roh, Samsung TV boss Han Jong-hee, Samsung Display president Lee Dong-hoon and Samsung home appliance boss Lee Jae-seung.
Lee last visited Vietnam to inspect the company’s operations in October, 2018. He visited there with his father chairman Lee Kun-hee in October, 2012 as well.
