Battery production equipment maker CIS will start development of all solid-state battery production lines, the company said on Monday.

The company was named to lead the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s national projects to development solid-state battery’s electrode plate and cell production equipment.

It will lead the projects to develop a production technology for 7mAh/c㎡ electrode for ceramic batteries as well as 50c㎡ solid-state battery cell production equipment. Both researches will last five years.

CIS has already wrapped up construction of the dry rooms for the projects and has begun developing related technologies.

In 2017, the company has kicked off development of sulfide solid-state electrolyte. In 2018, it succeeded in synthesizing a small amount of the electrolytes. It registered for patents for the technology this year and secured a production capacity of 70kg per month for the materials.

It will collaborate with Meere Company and DH to develop the pole plates for the solid-state battery.

CIS CEO Kim Soo-ha said the company’s solid-state material was being tested by global and local institutes and companies. The company will expand in the rising solid-state battery production line business, he added.
