Domestic semiconductor inspection equipment maker SEMICS will work with Spirox in Taiwan to accelerate its entry into the Chinese market. On the 29th, Spirox announced that SEMICS' inspection equipment brand OPUS has been included in its sales portfolio in China and Taiwan. Spirox is a distributor of semiconductor inspection equipment.

"We will increase our market share by delivering our products to more Chinese and Taiwanese customers through Spirox's professional and immediate service with the high level of customer satisfaction," said CEO Kim, Ji-Suk, of SEMICS.

The wafer prober produced by SEMICS has been newly selected as a world-class product in 2018 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Having a world market share of 5% or more or being ranked within the top 5 places is a prerequisite for selection.

A representative of Spirox Shanghai branch said, "With the OPUS series of SEMICS and with its competitiveness, we will set up a test solution of which cost-effectiveness has been raised to achieve good results in the market with SEMICS." Founded in 1987 as an American Spirox affiliate, Spirox merged with the U.S. Spirox in 2000. In 2002, it made a Shanghai corporation and made a full-fledged entry into the Chinese market. In 2017, its sales are 2.65 billion dollars (about 96 billion won).

In 2017, SEMICS posted sales of KRW 49.8 billion and operating profit of KRW 7.3 billion. Its sales in 2015 and 2016 were KRW 26.2bn and KRW 38.9bn, respectively, and the sales in 2016 and 2017 were increased by 48% and 28% from the previous years, respectively.
