Samsung invests in 4 semiconductor SMEs 

74 billion won into KCTech, Mico Ceramics, LOTVacuum and New Power Plasma

Samsung Electronics has invested around 74 billion won into four local semiconductor material, component and equipment companies.

The companies are KCTech, Mico Ceramics, LOTVacuum and New Power Plasma __ Samsung put in equity investments of 20.7 billion won, 21.6 billion won, 18.9 billion won and 12.7 billion won, respectively, in to the companies.

KCTech specializes in chemical mechanical polishing used to flatten the surface of wafers.

Micro Ceramics produces ceramic heaters used to heat wafers.

LOTVacuum produces dry vacuum pumps. New Power Plasma is developing RF generators for semiconductors.

Samsung said the investments were done to improve the local semiconductor ecosystem.

In August, Samsung made equity investments of 113.3 billion won into two companies __ to blank mask maker S&S Tech and wafer testing firm YIK Corporation.

Samsung began investing in South Korea semiconductor material, component and equipment companies in 2017, starting with SoulBrain and Dongjin Semichem.

In April this year, it made equity investments into Wonik IPS and SFA.
