APS enters digital X-ray business
It will receive tech from ETRI
APS Holdings said on Tuesday that it will c-develop digital X-ray with the Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute (ETRI).
ETRI will transfer its digital X-ray generator technology to APS under the deal.
APS will use the technology to develop the x-ray for use in battery inspection, high performance CT, airport security and semiconductor and display inspection, it said.
The digital X-ray technology uses nano-materials. It will use higher voltage than semiconductors for more stable and clearer X-ray signals. The technology also reduces radioactive exposure by 70%. It is also much faster than analog X-ray devices.
ETRI has developed the technology for around 10 years.
APS has been developing laser processing equipment for application in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) semiconductor production process.
The company has also developed OLED fine metal mask which will be produced by its subsidiary APS Materials.
