Mediatek will acquire Intel’s power management semiconductor business for US$85 million, the company said on Tuesday.

The Taiwanese company’s subsidiary Richtek Technology will buy Intel’s Enpirion.

Enpirion supplies power management solution for FPGA, system-on-a-chip (SoC), CPU and ASIC.

Mediatek has focused on SoC in the past but is expanding its ASIC business.

The deal will wrap up in the fourth quarter.

In October, Intel announced that it will sell its NAND unit to SK Hynix for US$9 billion.

In July of last year, it sold its 5G modem business to Apple for US$ 1 billion.

Intel is aiming to focus on its data center business and autonomous driving business through Mobileye.
