LG Uplus said on Tuesday that it has started the trial for 28GHz 5G network.

The network has been applied to Kumoh National Institute of Technology for the university’s administrative work and will replace the wired network.

LG Uplus hopes the trial leads to development of a cloud system, low-latency remote classes, a new research and development platform and face recognition artificial intelligence cameras.

Faculty and students of the university can upload their systems to a virtual PC synced with a cloud server, and access it through their smartphones and notebooks.

They can share papers, technology and patents using the wireless network, the carrier said.

The network at the university will also be used by Lg Uplus to test 5G router and smartphones that use Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G mobile platform.
