CS sees repeater export to Japan increase in 2nd half

South Korea repeater maker CS saw its export of 4G LTE repeaters to Japan increase in the second half of the year, TheElec has learned.

The company’s accumulated earnings up to the third quarter was 90 million won in operating loss and 29.3 billion won in sales.

But it saw export to Japan increase in the third quarter and this is expected to continue to up to the fourth quarter, making it likely that the company will return to profitability for the full year of 2020.

Last year, the company posted 32.2 billion won in sales and 900 million won in operating loss.

CS’s small interference cancellation system (ICS) repeater is leading the growth. CIS repeater has accounted for 55.6% of the company’s sales this year up to the third quarter. This trend is expected to continue in the fourth quarter.

CS made the ICS repeaters per its Japanese customer’s request. They are used for in-building spaces to expand network coverage.

Repeaters are used to expand coverage as they are cheaper than radio stations to make and install.

CS supplies them to NTT Docomo and KDDI, Japan’s largest and second-largest telcos, respectively.

Japanese telcos receive the majority of their repeaters from South Korean companies.
