HFR builds private 5G network for smart factories

Telecom equipment maker HFR has built private 5G networks in three smart factories in South Korea through SK Telecom.

The company collaborate with equipment makers Contela and Insnode as well as telecom software company Ntels. HFR acquired Ntels earlier this year.

Private 5G network limits network access to a certain party. It is being applied tin smart factory, hospital, airport and other facilities where stable network quality is important.

HFR supplied radio unit, baseband unit and core unit for the networks at the smart factories.

The company previous supplied its private 5G network kit to Japan’s NEC. 

Private 5G network will began mass commercialization in 2021 and continue to grow for the next 15 years, HFR said.
