Samsung touts software academy success

Over 1,000 graduates find employment

Samsung Electronics on Wednesday said it has held its third completion ceremony for students of its software academy program.

The company started the Samsung Software Academy For Youth (SSAFY) program back in December 2018. 

1623 students have enrolled with 1009 of the finding recruitment in related fields after completing the program, the South Korean tech giant said. They found jobs in major companies such as Samsung Electronics, Naver and Hyundai Motor, the firm said.

The latest completion ceremony was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These batch of students held online and offline classes this year for completion.

SSAFY offers software classes eight hours a day and in total 1600 hours in a year.

Their program is divided into two semesters __ the first semester teaches basics of algorithm and coding and the second semester offers project based development tasks. Each student receive a million won a month in funding.
