Innowireless’ sales from optimization software in 5G to surpass 4G

Firm also developing 5G small cell

Wireless network solution firm Innowireless’ sales from 5G is expected to surpass 4G this year.

The company is expected to post 20 billion in sales in the fourth quarter, with over half of them from 5G. 

Innowireless has accumulated 64.4 billion won in sales this year as of the third quarter. Around 57% was from 5G.

The company’s main product is wireless network optimization solution. It is used by carriers when installing 5G base stations. Telecom equipment makers also use the solution. Innowireless is thought to have around 75% market share in South Korea.

The solution is installed as a software in devices such as notebook and is used to measure telecommunication service. It can find shaded and interference areas as well as their causes. The software can be connected to multiple handsets through a hardware but the company’s main sales come from software.

The company is expecting higher profitability from 5G going forward. Its sales up to the third quarter this year was a decline of 10% from the same time period last year. But accumulated operating income up to the third quarter was 12 billion won, up 10% from a year ago.

Innowireless is also planning to launch 5G small cell. It signed a purchasing deal with Qualcomm for the latter’s 5G RAN platform (FSM100xx). The company is developing 5G small cell using the platform that can support mmWave spectrum.

The firm was also supplying KT’s 4G small cell. They are used to expand 4G coverage in military bases and the front lines. The cells will be exported to Japan and India next year.
