Samsung Display on Sunday said it plans to launch over 10 OLED panels aimed at notebooks this year.

The company last year launched 5 OLED panels for notebooks.

Samsung Display is expecting to ship five times the OLED panels for notebook in 2021 compared to a year ago due to continued demand for PCs from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, the South Korean display giant launched UHD(3840x2160), QHD(2560x1440) and FHD(1920x1080) OLED panels.

In 2020, the company supplied OLED panels for Razer, HP, Asus, Lenovo and Dell. Panels ranged in 13.3-inch to 15.6-inch in sizes and 1920x1080 and 3820x2160 in resolution.

Samsung Display said it will diversify the size and specification for its OLED panels further this year. Last year, the company launched a 13.3-inch FHD OLED panel. It is planning to launch a 15.6-inch version of the same resolution this year. The company said it was aiming to expand in the mass market.

OLED panels are thinner and have a simpler structure compared to liquid crystal display panels.

It also boasts 100% DCI-P3 color range compared to LCD’s 74%. OLED panels also have ten times the response time to LCD and has a contrast ration of a million to one.
