LG Display on Sunday said it will showoff a bendable 48-inch Cinematic Sound OLED panel at CES 2021.

The panel is aimed at gaming and can be bent by up to 1000R (equivalent how a circle with 1000mm radius is bent).

A TV with the panel will be able to switch from flat when used to view media content and curved when playing games, LG Display said.

The panel also can emit sound on its own without the need of speakers. It emits sound from the vibration of the panels.

LG Display said it made the exciter, a component used to vibrate the panel to make sounds, thinner to 0.6mm from the previous 9mm. This allows the panel to be thinner to accommodate a thinner TV design, the company said.

The panel will also offer “infinite” contrast ration, 0.1ms response time, 120fps and up to 120Hz refresh rate.

LG Display’s OLED panels have previously received certifications for low blue light and for being flicker free, which lessens stress put on eyes.
