Partron supplies 5G router to LG Uplus
New business led by heir of company
Camera module maker Partron has supplied around 100 units of 5G routers that support mmWave to LG Plus, TheElec has learned.
The companies were discussing additional supplies.
The 5G router business is led by 42-year-old Kim Won-keun, son of Partron’s largest shareholder, the 72-year-old Kim Jong-koo.
Partron’s fixed 5G router supports notebook connection. It can receive 5G signals and send out Wi-Fi singals.
LG Uplus used Patron’s routers for the 5G network it built Kumoh National Institute of Technology. The network supports both 3.5GHz and mmWave spectrum.
Partron started its cellular business starting with 5G. It developed a telecommunication module based on Qualcomm’s X55 5G Modem-RF System in June last year.
It is planning to export 5G modules and devices as well.
Partron signed a collaboration agreement with Korea Testing Laboratory in July, 2020. KTL said it will support 5G export efforts of Partron.
In 2019, Partron marked 1.25 trillion won in sales and 105.2 billion won in operating income.
In 2020, as of the third quarter, the company has accumulated sales of 846.1 billion won and operating income of 32.4 billion won.
