Mcnex unveils ADAS camera at CES 2021
System to improve safety in autonomous cars
Mcnex, in collaboration with Corephotonics, announced that they have developed a front prism dual-sensing ADAS camera at CES 2021.
The camera will improve autonomous driving in cars. It will receive videos of intersections and curved roads to the control unit, Mcnex said.
One camera will monitor the front of the camera in 120 degrees; another 15 degree camera will detect preregistered cars and passerbys using the prism.
The system can detect objects up to 250 meters ahead at curved roads and intersections, which will increase safety, Mcnex said.
The system uses an actuator that combines Mcnex’s 7.4MP camera and Cortephotnics’ prism technology.
It was designed to overcome the limitation of cameras currently used for self-driving cars that are fixed to an angle.
Israel company Corephotonics was acquired by Samsung Electronics for 175 billion won in 2019. The company has patents in folded zoom technology used by Samsung Electro-Mechanics for cameras in Samsung Electronics; smartphones.
Mcnex said it was in talks with potential customers for the camera.
