LG and Luxoft to use webOS Auto to launch infotainment system 

CTO IP Park talks up open collaboration at CES 2021

LG Electronics and Luxoft will form a joint venture called Alluto that will launch an infotainment system for cars using webOS Auto, the companies said on Tuesday.

Alluto will develop the infotainment system which will include a head unit and rear-seat entertainment system.

LG CTO IP Park, at an open discussion during CES 2021, stressed the importance partnership for digital innovation.

The company’s LG Innovation Council was one such group for such collaboration. The group had Park as the chairman and includes 12 experts in artificial intelligence, big data, cloud, robot, mobility and other areas.

The South Korean electronics maker said it was also working to expand its LG ThinQ app’s ecosystem. The app is used currently to control home appliances at home.

LG announced a partnership with meal kit firm Tobala. A customer can scan the bar code on the meal kit using the LG ThinQ app, which will make the oven set the best cooking course for the kit. 

The company will collaborate with Nestle and Kraft Heinz, as well as remodeling service HomeAdvisor to expand ThinQ’s applications.

IP Park also introduced the company’s vision pack AI that can handle level 2 personialization and level 3 deductions. For example, a refrigerator with vision pack will allow consumers to check their remaining stock inside outside the home and buy the necessary groceries. The refrigerator will also recommend recipes.

Park also said LG has offered delivery robots, ultraviolet-C lamp using disinfection bot, wearable air purifiers and smart heat cameras in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CTO said in the age of New Normal, companies but be willing to collaborate with their competitors.
