Trinamix has developed a 3D facial recognition imaging solution that can be embedded in organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays, the ocmpany said.

The technology will allow smartphones to remove the notch and have a full-screen display.

The solution can detect depth in an image and check for live skin on faces. This prevents 2D images, 3D masks and face masks to bypass the security measure.

Trinamix has developed the algorithm to recognize faces as well as the CMOS image sensor and a near-infrared light projector.

The solution will be unveiled at MWC Shanghai next month.

Trinamix is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF and specializes in infrared sensor and 3D imaging technology. It has 150 employees.
