VTGMP secures licenses for lithium sulfur battery from KERI

VTGMP said on Wednesday that it has secured licenses to use use two patents related to lithium sulfate battery from Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI).

The company also formed a new business division for the next-generation batteries.

KERI will send two researchers to support the company, VTGMP said.

The two patents are: one for the production of rechargeable batteries and another for the production of sulfur carrier carbon nanotube used to manufacture lithium sulfur batteries.

Lithium sulfur is considered an alternative to lithium-ion as it has around 1.5 times higher energy density.

VTGMP has been expanding into battery and electric vehicle sectors since last year. Its induction heating roller technology, which is currently used for battery separator production, can also been used to manufacture heaters in electric vehicles. It is planning to supply Ruthenox heaters for electric vehicles later this year.
