Qualcomm announces new Snapdragon Sound certification

Qualcomm on Thursday announced Snapdragon Sound which will offer significantly improved audio quality in wireless headphones, earbuds and smartphones.

The US chip giant will offer its latest processors and Bluetooth audio SoCs, among other technologies, to offer hi-fi 24-bit 96kHz audio, ultra low latency, improved pairing and clear sound quality, the company said.

Snapdragon Sound will offer 89ms Bluetooth delay time, which is 45% lower than its competitors, Qualcomm claimed.

For consumers who preferring hearing audio directly from their mobile devices, Qualcomm combined its Aqstic DAC. Snapdragon Sound will offer THD+ N and up to 384kHz 32-bit PCM and DSD.

Snapdragon Sound will have: Snapdragon 8 series mobile platform; FastConnect 6900; Bluetooth audio SoCs QCC514x, QCC515x and QCC3056; active noise canceling; aptX Adaptive codec; Aqstic audio codec and smart speaker amplifier WCD938x and WSA883x; and audio and voice communication suite.

Devices with Snapdragon Sound will launch in the second half of the year.
