Samsung Electronics will hold an unveiling event for new Galaxy A smartphones for the first time next week.

The company said on Wednesday that it will hold an online event called Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpacked on 10am March 17 (US EST).

It will likely unveil the rumored Galaxy A52 and A72 smartphones.

The phones will have upped camera features and Samsung will be aiming to win over younger consumers.

Galaxy A5 and A7 series combined sell around 30 million units a year.

Samsung is likely holding an Unpacked event as the competition in mid-tier smartphones is heating up. The COVID-19 pandemic has also limited offline marketing efforts.

The Korean firm had only held Unpacked events for its flagship brands S and Note so far, with the exception of Galaxy S20FE (Fan Edition) late last year.

Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series is selling better than Galaxy S20 series. However, it is still expected to sell less than mid-30 million units of older S models. Rival Apple meanwhile is breaking records with its iPhone 12 series.
