Samsung Display said on Tuesday that it has supplied its OLED panel to Asus for the latter’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) Phone 5.

The supply of the 6.78-inch OLED panel is the Korean firm’s first for the ROG series.

Samsung Display said the display panel supports 120Hz or higher refresh rate. It was deemed “seamless” by SGS, the company said, with a blur length of less than 0.7mm and a motion picture response time (MPRT) of less than 11 milliseconds.

The panel has reduced blue light emission of 6.5%, receiving the Eye Care Display certificate from SGS as well, Samsung Display said.

The Korean firm has previous supplied its 6.67-inch rigid OLED panel to Xiaomi Black Shark 3 launched in March last year. Black Share 3 Pro used the 7.1-inch flexible OLED panel from BOE.

Samsung Display has been supplying OLED panels for gaming laptops since 2019. It supplied its 15.6-inch UHD OLED panel for Razer’s Blade 15 that year. In 2020, it provided the 13.3-inch FHD OLED panel used in Razer Blade Stealth 13.

The company said it will expand its supply of OLED panels for gaming smartphones going forward, following its success in providing them for gaming notebooks.

Its OLED offers adaptive frequency and variable refresh rate that allows for improved gaming experience, the company added.
