LG Energy Solution said late on Tuesday that the company needed “reasonable compensation” from SK Innovation for violating its trade secret.

LG was responding to SK’s statements earlier that claimed LG was attempting to “monopolize” the US battery market.

It was revealed last week that LG sent a letter to the US Senator Raphael Warnock, who represents the state of Georgia where SK has a battery plant, in which it claimed that it could partner with an outside investor to run the plant.

In its latest statements, LG said the issue at hand was that SK, as the offending company, needed to reasonably compensate the victim company, LG.

LG also said it was regrettable that SK continues to allegations besides the issue and making disparaging remarks about LG’s justified investment plants in the US.

The lawsuit between the pair was done to establish competition in good faith in the industry, LG also said. “We do not wish for any customers of our competitor [SK Innovation] and State of Georgia to get treated unfavorably,” the company said. “LG Energy Solution will do what it can to support [these parties].”
