Dreamtech and MixComm to co-develop 5G mmWave system
US firm to provide algorithm for mmWave antenna Korean company to manufacture the system
Dreamtech said on Friday that it will collaborate with MixComm to develop 5G mmWave system.
MixComm will develop 28GHz 5G mmWave RF chip and antenna-in-package (AiP) solution.
The US company was co-founded by professor Harish Krishnaswamy of Colombia University and ex-Qualcomm VP Frank Lane, who has over 25 years of experience of developing RF chips, Dreamtech said.
Dreamtech said MixComm’s latest mmWave RF chip Summit 2629 had greater transfer power while consuming less power compared to other chips made based on CMOS.
The chip allowed RF modules for 5G network equipment to use half the number of chips compared to competitors’, the South Korean company said.
Dreamtech and MixComm will collaborate in development, production and supply of RF modules, antenna modules, repeaters and 5G customer-premise equipment. The Korean company will design the systems, verify them and manufacture them. The US firm will provide its algorithm and knowledge in mmWave antenna.
