LG Energy Solution said on Friday that SK Innovation was "misleading the facts" and not accepting the ruling made by the International Trade Commission (ITC) on the pair's trade secret lawsuit.

LG Energy Solution made a public proposal to SK Innovation for a joint review of the evidence listed on the ITC’ ruling.

The company was responding to statements made by SK Innovation in its shareholders’ meeting

In February, the commission ruled that SK stole trade secrets related to battery technology from LG. It ordered a 10-year important ban against SK.

Despite the ruling, the South Korean battery makers continued to issue statements against each other afterwards.

SK has said it doesn’t accept the judgment and will be seeking a veto from US President Joe Biden. Rulings made by the ITC can vetoed within 60 days by the President.

SK reiterated its position at its shareholders’ meeting on Friday, saying it was regrettable that ITC accepted its competitor’s “vague allegations”, when the commission accepted that it was unclear what was the trade secret in question.

In response on the same day, LG said it was regrettable that SK refuses to accept the ITC’s judgment make misleading statements on facts related to the case. LG said that the pair stop their exhausting debate, and instead commence a joint review of the evidence so that they can accurately prove trade secret infringements.

LG also said in the current environment, society and governance (ESG) management era, respecting trade secrets and intellectual property of competitors was a basic tenant. The company said it will continue to resolutely defend its intellectual property that it has accumulated for the past 30 years.
